Together with Eric, he left quietly and quickly. Mari was put in Kaya's bed and Lina was on the couch with Kaya, trying to distract her by finding a movie together.

"Are you sure Ryan?"
"Of course." He loved spending time with his niece anyway. "If she's awake, she might like to watch Frozen too."
"Okay. Thanks Ryan."
He disappeared towards Kaya's room, knowing the layout of the house almost as well as he did his own and Lina's.
Mari was awake and moving around. "Uncle Ryan," she smiled.
"Hey, princess. How was your nap?"
"Want KK."
He managed to hide a grin. "KK's watching Elsa. Wanna watch?"
"Elsa." She nodded.
He picked her up, hugging her, before carrying her to the girls. Kaya made room next to her for Mari to sit.
Lina smiled up at him, making room for him beside her.
"Sorry, your the only boy," grinned Natalia.
"Used to it," Ryan grinned back, feeling Lina lean back against him.
"Is Mari sleeping over?" Kaya asked.
"Depends on what time your dad and her parents get back, baby." Lina answered.
"Can she stay anyway?"
"We'll see what Dad and Aunt Calleigh say, okay?" Natalia told her, ruffling her hair gently.
"Okay."
"Nat, is there something I can be doing?" Lina asked, unable to sit still.
"No. You should rest too."
Ryan rubbed her arms gently, kissing her temple. "Relax. You'll be okay," he whispered.
"LiLi okay?" Mari asked.
"I'm fine, baby girl." She smiled for her and Kaya.
Mari smiled and curled against Kaya. "My KK."
Lina got up and started to clean the dishes, needing something to do.
"Lina, come sit again," called Natalia.
Ryan shook his head. "She's been like this since K was taken. I thought maybe having her home..." He whispered where Kaya couldn't hear.
"She's scared."
He nodded. "Can you talk to her? I can watch the girls, but...I just don't know what to say."
"I'll try."
"Thanks, Nat."
"Anytime."
Lina sensed Natalia join her. "I can't just sit right now, Natalia. I can't explain it, but I just can't."
"It's okay. Are you okay?"
"I should be asking you that."
"I'm clearly better than you. Did they hurt you?"
"I'm fine." She was obviously banged up and even her feet still hurt, but she couldn't keep still.
"Come sit for a bit. We can have coffee."
She sat, willing to try.
"What happened out there?"
She told Natalia what she remembered, much the same as she had tried to tell her father and had told Ryan and Tripp.
"And you did everything you could. Don't blame yourself."
"Part of me knows that."
"But you can't forgive yourself."
"Part of it's that. Part of it..." She paused. "I know how Kaya feels."
"What do you mean?"

"Dad doesn't talk about it. At all. I guess I don't either. As far as I know, Ryan doesn't even know." (I don't think she knows h told him) "Mom was a prosecutor at the time. I never did understand what happened, except that she was putting pressure on a lot of people, there was a big trial, her biggest, and they thought it would silence her if she wasn't there. If I wasn't there. I don't know why they didn't just kill us, they should have, maybe they were making negotiations with her office or with the police, like a prisoner release. I don't know. I never got a reason. I think that's why Dad is so...intent on getting Kaya a reason, getting the people who took her so that they don't ever try again."
