"I know, but I can't shake this weird feeling I've got."

"Honey if you want to cancel it, we can."
"No. No, I need to do this, and if I don't do it now, I won't do it at all."
"Okay."
"Thank you." She walked with him to put away the file box.
Russell found them. "Everything okay?" He asked, concerned.
"Yeah, we're coming," said Sara.
He looked at Nick who nodded before joining the others.
Sara put the box away and then took Nick's hand. "Let's go."
He held her hand as they joined their family. Morgan was on the other side of the room from Greg, Russell sitting between her and Finn as well.
"What happened here?" Sara asked.
"Nothing," Morgan answered. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah. You?"
"Of course." She smiled for her friend, but it didn't quite reach her eyes.
"Good then," she said, a little suspicious.
Nick held out a chair for Sara.
"Thank you."
He nodded, sitting on the other side of her, he and Greg surrounding her. It wasn't long before Grissom arrived. Sara tensed, anger filling her at the sight of him. Nick squeezed her hand lightly, his thumb caressing the skin gently. She gave him a smile, silently thanking him.
"What is all this?" He didn't even recognize three of the people in the room.
"You won't talk to Sara willingly, so we're forcing you," said Greg simply.
Grissom glared at Greg. "Where do you get off 'forcing' me to do anything?"
"Well, unlike you, I care about Sara," Greg replied angrily. "I actually want her to be happy!"
"I didn't come here to talk to you. And I resent the fact that you have a roomful of people for what I thought was a private meeting. I don't really know why I'm here to start with."
"Grissom, if you can't talk in a civil matter, you and I can step outside. I've wanted to talk to you out there for about ten years now," Nick told him.
Sara stood up, red with anger. "No Nicky, he can stay here. And I don't care what he says, he will talk to me. Cause if he doesn't, he'll get another of these." She stepped up to him and punched him in the face.
Grissom grabbed her arm and Nick was up, crossing the room in one shot, Russell not far behind.
"Get off me!" Sara yelled at him, kicking at him to get free. She was vaguely aware that everyone in the room was standing up, ready to help if she needed them.
Grissom let her go, but it was because he was knocked on his butt. Nick wasn't about to let it go until Sara actually got hurt.
"What the hell?! You used to be kind, what happened to you?" Sara asked, stepping back toward Nick and Greg.
"Who hit who?" Grissom growled, glaring at Nick who was already stepping in front of Sara.
"She only got you for the way you've been treating her! Why didn't you try to make your marriage work? She was always going to you, wherever you were. You never once came here, you even ditched her on her birthday." Greg stepped up next to Nick.
"I was unaware that you were married, Greg. Congratulations," Grissom said dryly.
"I don't need to be married to know what you did is wrong."
"As I recall, you never could commit to a girl for more than a week. And Nick. It's nice to see you finally got what you always wanted. Let's see, you're taking care of my bugs, working my cases, and sleeping with my ex-wife." Russell was the one who got in between Grissom and Nick that time, afraid Nick would kill him.
"You leave them alone!" Sara screamed. "They always cared about me more than you. I can't believe I ever loved you."
Morgan came up to Greg. "If you EVER talk to Greg like that again, Sara's punch will be the least of your worries," she said, venom dripping from every word. "Don't make me call my dad here!"
"And if you ever, ever touch her again, Nick and Greg will be the least of your worries," Finn snarled, protective of her 'sister'.
"Oh, you're Ecklie's little brat," Grissom said, interested. "Boyfriend and girlfriend can't work together, but nepotism still reigns supreme."
Morgan looked beyond Grissom and saw Ecklie approaching. "Maybe I don't need to call him. Hey, dad! Need your help!"
"Grissom, if you're not on a case, get your ass out of this lab," Ecklie said, having heard what was going on and not liking it.
"No dad, we need him to apologise to Sara first," Morgan said.
"Hell will freeze over," Grissom muttered.
"Yeah?" said Russell, "we aren't going to let you leave until you apologise, or we are going to throw you in prison."
"For what?" Grissom dared.
"We'll find something," said Ecklie.
Grissom turned and walked away.

Sara followed him. "Why won't you talk to me?"

"There's nothing left to discuss."

"Yes there is. Like why you couldn't tell me in person you wanted a divorce?"

"Would it have made a difference?"

"Maybe, maybe not. But it would have been better than a text message!"

"So why couldn't you just tell me in person? It would have hurt less."

"What would be the point, Sara? Our marriage was a fraud. You can't love anyone. You're incapable."

Sara opened her mouth to retaliate, but nothing came out. Instead, she felt tears well up as her anger got the better of her and she punched him again.

He looked at her like he wanted to hit her but just walked away. Nick was torn between kicking him out and comforting Sara.

"Nicky, how was I so stupid? How could I have ever loved him?" She looked away. "Was he telling the truth?"
