Morgan found Greg out on the dock, watching the sun come up. "Hey." She kissed his cheek. "There you are."
"Sorry. Russell had some paperwork for me to do."
"No problem. Sara needed some girl time anyway. She misses Nicky. It was all I could do not to tell her." She linked his arm with her, holding his hand.
"He is still planning on surprising her?"
She nodded. "He'll get here on the 13th, probably after we go to work."
Greg nodded. "She'll love that."
"She's not the only one." She knew how much he missed his friends. She'd emailed Catherine not too long ago, trying to set up a date before the baby came that their friend could visit, on a weekend when Nick was home from San Diego.
"Yeah, I miss Nicky, sometimes more than Sara."
"Babe, I'm not sure about that," she smiled. "I can't imagine being in LA, having you here." He knew how much she still loved her hometown.
"Me either, actually. But we can always go there together when you want to."
"Maybe for a honeymoon." That looked doubtful though, as both of them wanted to be there when they became godparents and Sara's due date was gettng closer.
"A honeymoon would be great. We could spend a few weeks away."
"You plan on doing it after becoming an uncle then. Sara could go into labor as early as two weeks from now or as late as a month. That doesn't sound like a few weeks will fit."
"After the birth then. That will give us some time to build up a bit more money and then we can actually plan a proper honeymoon." She nodded, not quite pouting, but a look crossed her eyes. "What's wrong, Morgan?"
She smiled for him. "Nothing. I'm fine. Sara left some breakfast, if you're hungry."
"Uh, sure. I can get it." He watched her a moment, convinced he must have said something to upset her.
She wasn't sure what this feeling was. She was happy for Sara and Nick, although things weren't working out according to plan, and she was content in being engaged to Greg. It was something she'd thought would never happen, to go in one year from nail polish to an engagement ring, but something inside of her just didn't feel right. She couldn't explain it to herself, let alone him.
"Morgan, tell me what's wrong."
She thought of all the stories, ones she had missed, like the explosion in the lab, the gang beating him up, ones she had lived through, Ellie shooting her, guns and knives in their faces. "I don't want to wait," she whispered.
"Wait for what?"
"We can wait for the honeymoon. I don't care about that. But I promised myself after the shooting that I wasn't going to wait anymore, because something could happen tomorrow and what I, what we, have been waiting for could disappear. I don't mean what we feel, that's never gonna change, but...I want to be your wife. I want you to be my husband. I don't want a big wedding, I don't care about the honeymoon, I just want...I want us. If you're not ready, then we can talk about that, but...I don't want to put it off because we've been engaged for two months and we haven't gotten any closer to setting a date than we were on the day before you asked." She realized she was rambling and tried to make herself stop.
Greg grinned. "I didn't ask cause I didn't want to push. I would love to marry you right now."
"Yeah?" She bit her lip softly, seeming surprised but elated.
"Of course."
"And we can wait, for the honeymoon, until we save the money or whatever. I don't have to do that right now. I already have the dress, we have the music, and we see almost all of the guest list everyday."
"Then let's do it this weekend."
"Perfect." She knew Nick would be in town anyway. All it would take was a call to Catherine and her mom.
"Leave it to me. I'll set it up."
"Why don't you get Sara or Russell to help?" That way she would have a spy and be able to adjust whatever was needed.
"Sara. Take her mind off things." She kissed him and Greg smiled. "I love you."
"Love you," she whispered back, her classic smile spreading over her face.
"Sorry. Russell had some paperwork for me to do."
