"Please," Lina whispered, not wanting to draw Kaya's attention to the fact that Ryan wasn't coming home with them.

Eric nodded. "Girls, in the car please."
Kaya took Mari's hand and helped into her parents' car. "Are you coming too Lina?"

"Absolutely." She sat in the back with Kaya, Mari between them in her seat.

Kaya played with Mari on the trip, smiling happily.

The trip passed too quickly for Lina. They were back at the house and it felt like days since she'd left it, not hours.

"Lina, can Mari sleep over?"

"It's up to Aunt Callegh, sweetheart."
(do you think eric & calleigh talked about having a girls' sleepover for both lina/cal & mari/kaya?)

(Sure, why not?)
"Aunt Calleigh, can Mari sleep over?"

"I thought about having a sleepover. Eric can be a bachelor for one night without burning the house down. That if, if you don't mind, Lina."
Lina looked at her friend gratefully. "I don't mind at all."

"Yay," said Kaya. "It's still light outside. Can Mari and I play in the pool?"

"Till the lights come on. And only in the shallow end." She knew Kaya could swim in the deep, but was worried that Mari would follow her. The little girl was already a good swimmer and still wore her wings, but Lina didn't want anything to happen to her.

"Okay. Thanks." Kaya got out and helped Mari out, then ran to the pool.

Calleigh and Lina settled near the door where they could still see the girls, trusting Mari to take care of her, but not wanting to leave anything to chance either. "Thank you. For staying and for not saying anything to Kaya."

"No problem. But, I get the feeling that she knows something is off."

"I really hope not. She's got enough to worry about with Natalia and Dad right now."
