"Hey guys, what are we doing?" Kensi asked when they entered the tent.
"Getting ready to go," Callen told her.
"Get your gear," Sam almost barked.
Kensi grabbed her belongings, and headed back outside with Deeks, annoyed at Sam.
********
An hour later, they were outside the cave. Kensi and Callen went in first, clearing the cave's hidey-holes. They called back to their partners after a few minutes.
Deeks saw something familiar, something he'd seen many times before. Not thinking like a cop or even an agent, he picked it up. "Kens!"
Deeks! Don't touch it!"
"Didn't you drop it? It looks just like yours."
Kensi looked at the necklace and gasped, tears springing to her eyes when she recognised it.
"Shit," Callen whispered to himself, recognizing it, knowing who had the double to Kensi's. "Please...Please tell me you dropped it," he said, barely audible. "Please." He knew the truth, but he didn't want to accept it.
Kensi didn't answer. She tore off into the back of the cave, yelling out her best friend's name.(updated)
"KC? Babe? KC, answer me!" Callen called, checking everything all over again.
"CALLEN!" yelled Kensi from the very back of the cave.
He took off in a dead run and Deeks wasn't far behind him, worried that Kensi had been hurt from her pain-filled tone.
"She's barely breathing," sobbed Kensi as she tried to wake KC.
Callen picked her up like she was a rag doll, cradling her in his arms. "Sam, get some help."
Sam left the cave to call for a helicopter to come and pick them up, while Deeks cuddled Kensi to try to calm her down.
"She's going to be okay, Kensi. She's going to be okay."
"She's not. She's hurt."
"I know she's not right now, but she will be. Sam will get her some help and we'll take her home."
"Make her better..."
"I can't right now, but we will. I promise."
"Then I'm going with her."
"You and Callen both can. I'll go back with Sam."
"Okay."
It seemed like it was taking forever for Sam to return. If it didn't mean Callen had to leave KC, he would have strangled his partner. Kensi sat on the ground next to her friend, and held her hand, trying to will her to wake up.
"Kens." KC whispered without opening her eyes.
"KC? Wake up. Please wake up."(ok)
She moaned in pain, trying to open her eyes.
"KC? Come on."
"Home. Want home."
"Soon."
"G."
"I'm here honey."
"Home."
"I know, but Kensi is right. Soon."
KC's blue eyes finally opened.
"Hi."
"Hi." She whispered, already trying to get up.
"Stay there honey."
"Home."
"She's about as stubborn as someone else I know," Deeks said under his breath.
"Shut-up Deeks," smiled Kensi.
"Hi, Deeks." KC smiled.
"Hi, KC. It's nice to finally meet you." Deeks smiled to, hearing Sam grow closer.
