"I'm not interested right now," Kate told him, "In what you want to do. We're going to do what the doctors say and everyone, even Lanie, says you'll be alive longer if you stay in bed and rest. We like that option better." Although her words made it seem like she was cold, heartless, her eyes showed, to him alone, how terrified she still was.
