"Love you Lina. I'll come back, promise."

"Kaya said I'm not her father," he spilled straight away.

"What?" It didn't sound like her sister at all. She adored their dad.

"She was angry at me cause I wouldn't let her stay."

"She's a teenager, Dad. She's supposed to get angry when you tell her no." She thought for a moment. "Then again, you wouldn't know that."

"No. I feel bad for her. Her mother and sister are hurt and she can't be with them."

"You should have heard some of the things I said to Mom. I'm surprised she still talks to me." She paused. "Teenagers are supposed to fight, rebel. It's in their hormones. But Kaya adores you. She's scared, Dad, like we all are." She looked pale, almost dead herself, especially with the blonde hair washing her out too.

"I don't know how to deal with it."

She didn't respond.

"What do you think I should do?"

She didn't respond again. Sweat was gleaming off her body.

"Lina? What's wrong?"

"Co."

"I'll get the doctor." He stood and rushed out, returning a minute later with a nurse and doctor on his heels.

Ryan looked over at the teenage girl nearby. "You okay?" She wasn't her normal non-stop chattering self.

"I stuffed up Ryan. I said he wasn't my dad."

Ryan winced. "Why do you think you said that?"

"I was mad. He wouldn't let me stay with Lina and my mum."

"You're scared, aren't you?"

Kaya nodded. "For Lina mostly. She's really sick, isn't she?"

He nodded. "Yeah, sweetheart. She is." He paused. "You want to know a secret?"

"Okay."

"I'm scared too. For your mom and for Lina. For all of us."

"You are?" Kaya hugged him. "I want to go back to my mum."

He nodded, walking beside her towards the girls' room. He spotted something strange, but didn't comment, going with her back to Natalia.

"Mummy!" Kaya cried as she ran to the bed and hugged her.

She made room for Kaya next to her, her eyes searching Ryan's for what was going on.

"Lina's sick. Kaya is terrified."

Natalia nodded. "Horatio was supposed to get me moved into her room." She held Kaya, rubbing her back.

"He's trying. Kay is really scared, she just wants to see her sister get better."

"Thanks, Ryan. I'll take care of it." She knew he wanted to get back to Lina.

Ryan nodded. "Do you want to come back Kay?"

"It's okay. She can stay here with me until Eric's mom gets here."

"Okay. See you soon sweetheart. Bye Nat."

"Bye, Ryan. Give Lina a hug for me."

"I will."

Horatio came into the room, looking like he was in shock. "Baby, go find Calleigh for me. Please." Horatio said, forgetting Kaya's words from earlier.

"Why? What's wrong?"

"K, go now, please," Natalia said, worried about Horatio as much as she was Lina.

"Okay." She ran out of the room and to the waiting area.

"Horatio, what's wrong? What's happened?" Ryan asked, looking as scared as Natalia.

"Lina...she's...." He didn't know what to say.

"She's what?" Natalia managed to say when Ryan couldn't.

"What?" Ryan said.

Kaya started crying again, clinging to her mother.
