"I've always found that Kensi knows her own mind," Jack stated.
"Don't. Don't you f...don't you dare. The only reason you're here is you're the only shot we've got at getting KC home safely. Don't you dare give me advice on...don't you f...dare." He cut himself off each time but it was the angriest Callen had ever seen him.

Kensi looked at Deeks. "Come with me. Callen can deal with him."

He nodded, obeying her, knowing he had walked the line if not crossed it.

"I'm fine."
"I want you safe."
"I am." He stroked her hair out of the way and cupped her cheek gently. "Let's find her so we can go home."
He nodded. "I'm sorry I yelled at him. I just...it kills me to think he can give advice when, yeah, maybe sometimes I accidently hurt you, but never on purpose. I would never have broken your heart like that."
"It's okay."
Deeks shook his head. What Jack had done to her, either time, was far from okay.
Kensi kissed him. "I love you."
"I love you, Kens."
"Let's go." He nodded, holding her hand as he walked back to the others.
"Are we going in?" Callen asked.
"I was wondering if the three of us don't distract them in the front while Kensi goes in the back to get them out," Deeks said, wanting Kensi away from the line of fire.
"Are you sure?"
Deeks nodded. "We've done it before. I think it's best here, don't you?"
"Okay."
Deeks looked over. "Kens?"
"I'm good."
"Let's go."
Kensi waited for them to move then ran off to the back to her friend. Gunfire started in the front. Kensi barged in and found the marines. One was dead, one was near death, and KC looked much worse than she had in the film. "Kens?" She whispered.
"Shh. Let's go. The guys are waiting for us." Kensi lifted one marine and held KC's hand as they started moving.
It was all KC could do to get herself out and it was obvious that she was in pain.
Once they were safely outside, Kensi called Deeks over to help her. She refused to let go of KC though, wanting to look after her alone.
"Where's the other one?" Deeks asked, making sure Kensi was okay, not able to help KC right now. He knew they needed to get her to help but he also knew neither woman would ever forgive themselves if they left the dead Marine behind.
"Still there. I couldn't get him too."
"I know, babe. Signal Callen. We need to go as soon as I get back."
"Be careful." Kensi watched him leave and wanted nothing more than to follow.
KC was holding Kensi with all she had left.
"I won't go. Jack can. He can prove he cares by looking after Deeks."
"Jack?" She muttered something not very flattering, the gest was she felt about like Deeks about Kensi's ex.
"Deeks found him while looking for you guys."
Callen was the one who followed Deeks in and then out. He ran to KC's side, dropping next to her. "Are you okay?"
"Wanna go home. Want Ali."
"We are. Kensi's mom is watching Alina for you."
She nodded, not sure who she wanted more right then, Kensi or Callen, and really didn't want to try to decide.
"Let's get out of here."
Jack disappeared again, leaving Deeks to get the Marines back while letting Callen and Kensi focus on KC. Somewhere in the desert, KC finally passed out.

Kensi stopped. "KC?"

Callen cradled KC in his arms, checking her pulse. "How much longer?" He looked up at Deeks.
"I don't know. I've never done this before." He ran every single day, but as far as moving three marines, two injured, one dead, across the desert, he had no experience. KC didn't weigh much, even more given the weight she'd lost over here, but the men did.

"It's just a little longer guys. I remember this area, we're nearly at the base," said Kensi. "Maybe five or ten minutes."

Deeks nodded. "It'll be quicker if you guys go, send something back to help me move them. I can stay here with them, Kens. We won't be leaving them."

"Kensi, don't be stubborn. You have to get KC some help. Now." He'd noticed things that looked so familiar, things that he'd seen because of the torture he'd been through with Sam the year before.

"You're not, babe. You and G are gonna go with her. I'm gonna stay here until you can send some help back. I wouldn't ask you to leave KC."

"G. Make her go." He looked at his friend. "You know it's the only way." He looked back at Kensi. "It's okay, baby. I know you'll come back for me." He was referring to when he'd been in danger the last time and she'd had to leave him. The hardest thing for him to do, with all the pain running through his body, had been to watch her leave, but he had and he'd survived, just like when she was over here.

"Promise you'll still be here?"
He nodded. "Promise."
"Okay." She kissed him and left.
"Take care of them," Deeks told Callen before watching them leave.
There was madness as they arrived. "What's going on?"
They were relieved to see KC and asked where the others were. "We have to go back for them and my partner, Bond. Please?" Kensi said worriedly. "Before anything happens to them."
"I'll go with them, Kens. You stay with her." Callen said. "Whatever she needs, make sure..."
"Bring him home, Callen." He nodded, kissing KC's hair before he left her in the care of her best friend.
"Hurry," whispered Kensi as she sat with KC.
It was taking longer than Callen had planned to get back to where they'd left Deeks. He hadn't liked leaving his friend anymore than Kensi had, but he had no other choice. He knew the girls would most likely be gone by the time they got back and focused on getting to Deeks. He had a gut feeling something was wrong.
Bond stopped when they reached the place that Deeks had been at, finding the dead marine there but no one else. Then Callen heard the shooting. They ran forward, finding the second Marine on the ground. Bond wanted to grieve the loss of two of his men, but his task was to save the NCIS agent and bring his men home.
"There!" shouted Callen as he ran to get Deeks back from the firefight.
Deeks moved as quickly as he could, trying to stay out of the line of fire as much as he could. Even as he was doing this, he asked, "Kensi?"
"With KC."
He nodded, letting the Marines take over, just wanting to get some place safe so that they could go home. He didn't care if he ever saw this country again. It had been nothing but heart break: Jack, Kensi's being away from him at all and then what she'd gone through, followed by KC's leaving her daughter and Callen, now this.
"Are you hurt?"
"I don't think so." The adrenaline was so high that even if he was, he wouldn't have felt it.
"Let's go then. Kensi's waiting." He nodded, going back with Callen, knowing the Marines would take care of their friends.
The girls were gone when they got back. They were told they were moving KC to a hospital and that Kensi had gone with them so that her friend wasn't alone.
