"No. Please no." She said softly. "It'll be okay."

"What about her? She's your daughter. You know more than I do."

"I haven't been here, Kens. I've missed....I've missed everything."

"She asks for you all the time. You're mama. And she knows her daddy."

"I could tell. I'm glad...I'm glad he's finally getting it." She'd missed seeing Callen caring for Alina as a dad. The closest the little girl had ever gotten before she left was her Uncle Deeks.

"He's very protective of her, won't miss a day without seeing her. And he missed you too."

She was quiet for awhile. "Jack was there."

"I know. Deeks forced him to help us."
"Before that."
"He's been there since I left Afghanistan. Where exactly do you mean?"
"Since before you left Afghanistan, Kens. He's the reason she sent you over there. And where do you think I mean?"
"Did he hurt you?"
"Kens." It was obvious she didn't want to answer the question.
"He did, didn't he? I'll kill him."
She put her hand on her friend's arm.
"What did he do?"
"It doesn't matter."
"Yes it does."
"I can't, Kens."
"Why can't you tell me? I'm your best friend."
"Why can't you talk about going over there?"
"I told you what they did to me."
"Shut the door."
Kensi got up and closed the door.
"Can you help me change?" She had two reasons for asking this: one because the clothes she was wearing were uncomfortable, another because she wanted Kensi to have a better understanding.
"Sure. You still have clothes here, what do you want to wear?"
"Something loose."
Everything was loose on her. She'd not had weight to lose, but she'd lost it.
Kensi chose some clothes and helped her friend up. "What do you need me to do?"
She let her friend help her remove her shirt. There were bruises and burns that weren't covered by the bandages from her surgery.
"Oh god KC," she gasped.
"Do I need to talk about knives and batteries and cigarettes? And the leader knew I was a Marine. Knew I was a woman. Even before the rest found out."
"Sorry. I shouldn't have asked."
"No. It's okay. I just...I'm not ready to talk about it yet. But if I do, you'll be the first to know, before even Callen."
She slipped the t-shirt over her head. Kensi nodded.
"Please say something."
"I'm gonna kill them."
"No, you're not, because you're not going back over there."
"Someone has to do it."
"There's two marines that are dead. Do you honestly think you can beat them to it?"
"Never underestimate me when I'm pissed off and in protective mode." But Kensi stayed where she was, knowing KC was right.
"Please don't tell Callen. He'll find out soon enough. I just...I don't want him to have to go through what Deeks did."
"Okay.
"Thank you," she lay back down, already tired.
"Do you need anything?"
"Nothing you can get me." She smiled for him.
"Do you want Ali? Callen?"
"Ali's taking a nap. Callen's getting some daddy time. But you can go talk to Deeks if you need to."
"And leave you alone? No way."
"What do you think I'm gonna do, Kens?"
"I'm not leaving you."
"Why not?"
"I don't want to."
"That, I'll accept."
Kensi smiled. "Good."
Deeks knocked on the door.
"Come in."
"Got your faves." He smiled for her, putting a tray down for her and one for Kensi, giving her a stern look and then looking at the tray, silently telling her to eat or else.
"Thanks, Deeks," KC smiled for him.
"Thank you."
"Do you need anything else?"
"Just our partners."
"Want me to go get Callen? Ali's asleep, but he thought you needed some girl time."
"KC?"
"If he wants."
"He wants," Deeks assured her, going to get him.
Callen looked up when Deeks came back. "How are they?"
"They look tired. Haven't eaten yet, but haven't argued, which with those girls is a plus. Want us in there, if you want."
"Of course I do. What about Julia?"
"I'm going to bow out. The four of you will be fine. I'm going to rest while Ali's resting." Julia told him, touched that he would consider her.
"Okay. We'll get dinner, so make sure you come back tonight to eat with us."
Deeks nodded. "We can handle Ali for that long, Julia. You never get time alone anymore. Take it where you can get it." He smiled for her.
"Thank you for everything Julia."
She nodded. "Take care of my girls."
"Always do," Deeks reminded her, allowing himself a hug before she left.
"Let's go check on them."
Deeks nodded, walking with him. Kensi let them in again, making room for them on the bed.
"Eat," Deeks said, even as he held her in his arms.
"Only if you share."
"A little." He could always get up and get something if he needed.
"Okay."
It was obvious that what was left of the pain medication from earlier was wearing off.
"You alright?"
She nodded. She hadn't touched any of her food and, as Deeks had said, they were her favorites.
"Don't lie."
"Prove it."
"I can."
"Okay."
"Eat something," said Callen to diffuse the situation.

"Not hungry. Thank you for making it for me, Deeks."
"It's okay. Eat when you get ready," he gently said.

"Cause she's got enough people pushing her and if I leave you to your own devices, who knows what would happen?" He grinned.
