Kensi laughed as she walked with KC towards their favourite cafe. She was being carefree for once, and not paying attention to anything around her. KC was loving the girls' day. It wasn't that she didn't love her daughter and boyfriend, but it was nice to spend time with her best friend alone. Even Deeks was still at the office, Hetty scheduling their day off apart instead of together in typical Hetty fashion.
"Hey, maybe we can stop and get a present for Ali?" Kensi asked.
KC laughed. "Is there anything left in the stores? You spoil her far too much," she teased.
"So? I don't have a child to spoil yet, so I have to spoil Ali."
"I can't help it. Talk to Deeks about that. No, don't. He'll probably buy her another puppy." She rolled her eyes, but smiled. Her daughter couldn't have a better two sets of godparents then Deeks and Kensi, Sam and Michelle.
"Please?"
"You ask like it's up to me. You're gonna do it anyway," KC teased, her attention fully on Kensi.
"You're right. I will." She giggled as they walked into a toy shop.
KC couldn't help but buy something for her as well, building her yet another stuffed animal. On their way out, Kensi stopped, her arm out in front of her friend. She had left her gun at home, so she started kicking at the person trying to grab her. KC was shoved to the ground, hitting her head on the concrete. Her eyes were closed and she wasn't getting up.
"NO! You leave her alone!" screamed Kensi. "HELP!" It was no use. No sooner than the words had left her mouth, she was being shoved inside a van, her present for Ali laying on the ground near KC.

Deeks and Callen ran into the ER. "My girlfriend was brought in. Where...where is she?" Callen asked. He prided himself in handling almost any situation, but this wasn't just any situation.
"What's her name?"
"KC Landry," Deeks answered.
"Miss Landry is in room 114."
Callen shot Deeks a grateful look and ran to room 114.
Deeks was right behind him. He found the doctor and pulled him aside. "Is she okay?"
"She's awake, but she has a severe concussion. She doesn't remember anything and keeps asking about a Kensi. That doesn't happen to be your friend, does it?"
"Kensi is my girlfriend. Wasn't she with KC?"
"The young lady was brought in alone."
Deeks paled. "I need to talk to her."
KC was indeed awake and pale, frightened.
"Honey, are you alright?" asked Callen.
"Where's Kens? She was right here with me."
"We don't know," said Deeks. "The doctor said she didn't come in with you."
"No. She was right with me. We were having lunch. We went to that Chinese place she likes. Near your place."
"KC, it's three pm. Lunch is over."
She shook her head. "No. No, Kens picked me up a little before noon. I remember."
"What were you going to do after lunch?"
"We were going to play it by ear."
"Is there anything she wanted to do? Or did she say she was going anywhere after lunch?"
"We were going to spend the day together. She was just happy to have a day off, even if Hetty had scheduled it like she had." She paused. "You wouldn't be asking me this if she was okay. Where is Kensi?"
"I don't know. She's missing." Deeks suddenly felt like crying. "I need to get some air."
KC started unplugging herself from her machines.
"No, stay there," said Callen.
She gave him the 'the hell I will' look and continued.
"KC, you need to rest."
"I'll rest later."
"You aren't going to listen, are you?"
"What do you think? What would you do if it were Sam?"
"Alright, fine. Promise me you'll stay with me though."
She nodded at that, taking the sheet and trying to stop some of the bleeding that had happened when she pulled her machines loose.
"Let me get the doctor."
"No. All he's gonna do is tell me I have to stay here. We don't have that kind of time. We have to start looking. You have to tell Hetty and Sam, we have to get Deeks, and we have to start looking."
"He can fix this and I'll back you."
Against her better judgment, she nodded. Callen hurried out and returned with the doctor.
The doctor returned, but fussed at her for tearing them out. "Now you need rest."
"She will, I'll make sure of it, but we need her to help us find our friend."
"She's signing out AMA if she leaves."
"Bring me the da..." She paused. "Please may I have the papers?" The doctor disappeared.
"You rest the moment you get tired, understand?"
"I've been tired for two years, if you count the pregnancy." She drew out a breath and let it go. "I promise."
"Good. Come on, let's go get Deeks."
She signed the papers when they came and stood, reaching for his hand as she felt dizzy.
"I've got you."
"Always do," she whispered, walking outside with him.
Deeks was sitting on a bench there, his head in his hands. "KC? You should be resting."
"I'll rest when Kens comes home."
"You and me both. I called Sam, he's with Eric trying to find out where you guys went after lunch."
"I wish I could remember, Marty. I'm sorry." She was blaming herself the way neither of the guys were.
"It isn't your fault. Someone would have overpowered her, and probably you too had you tried anything."
"Evidently he did," Callen said, seeing the bandage on her head. "Someone had to have brought KC in to the hospital. Have they been interviewed?"
"No-one was there when the medics arrived. Eric is searching for them too, so is LAPD."
A nurse ran after the three of them. "Ma'am. Ma'am. You forgot your animals." She held out the two stuffed animals that didn't look familiar to KC.
"Are you sure they're mine?"
"They were with you when you were brought in."
KC looked up at Callen. "I don't remember them." She squeezed the rabbit that had Kensi's voice telling Alina she loved her.
"Did you stop at a toy shop?"
"I don't remember. I must have. That's...That's Kens." She looked at Deeks for confirmation, even though she knew she was right.
"Yeah, Kens must have wanted to stop and buy Ali something again," he said with a smile.
"Is there a toy store near the restaurant?" She asked him.
"About a block away."
"Then let's go there. See if anyone remembers us."
"Alright." Deeks got up.
KC sat in the back without questioning. Callen couldn't help but worry about her still being so pale, but knew better than to argue with her. He couldn't see himself letting Sam be taken and not doing whatever it took for him so how could he say that she was wrong now? Deeks stared at the road ahead, his worry turning to fear. He knew KC was lucky, and he hoped Kensi would be lucky too. Callen stayed on the phone with Sam most of the time. Nell was going through Deeks' old cases, Hetty through Kensi's, Eric was trying to locate her through various cameras throughout the area, and Sam was on his way with Granger to the restaurant where the girls had eaten.
"Callen, ask Eric if he's found anything."
Callen handed his phone over to KC while using hers to call Eric. KC told Sam what little she could remember about the ride to the restaurant.
"Hey, maybe we can stop and get a present for Ali?" Kensi asked.
KC laughed. "Is there anything left in the stores? You spoil her far too much," she teased.
"So? I don't have a child to spoil yet, so I have to spoil Ali."
