--Dad Horatio Caine (1960-): homicide cop, bomb squad, turned CSI. Parents were John & Isabel. John was a crooked Irish cop who murdered his Italian social worker wife when she testified about his activities. Horatio, in turn, killed his father. Horatio had one brother, Raymond, who was also a cop who walked a fine line between corrupt and 'undercover'; when he was murdered, he left behind a widow, Yelina, and two children: Ray Jr and Madison. Horatio has been married only once to Marisol (for less than a week before her death), but has been involved with Natalia Boa Vista for over six years.

--Mom Ellie Taylor (1968-): physician who has dedicated her life to helping those less fortunate. Unfortunately, that meant dragging her daughter from place to place with her until Horatio took her in when she was thirteen. She was born in England, raised in Australia, attended medical school in New York, and worked in ten different cities in the States and multiple countries overseas. Her father was a drug addicted musician who overdosed, her mother killed her stepfather defending her, she grew up with her grandmother.
