K"The easiest target would be that cop. He's not even a real agent." The first voice said. "He sleeps with one, but there's enough time that we could get him alone."
"Nah, man, he's the second one. The easiest would be that one that's knocked up, the single mom with the little boy. Then we'll do the cop. I wouldn't mind taking my time on the mom though. You can do the cop."
Callen shivered as he heard what was being said. It had been months since Hetty had put him undercover and he hadn't seen KC or spoken to her since. He constantly worried about her, but this just made his worry all the more real. He had to do something, so he snuck out to a quiet corner of the building and dialed her number.
Kensi was drying dishes so that KC could get Zac to take a bath. When the phone rang, she answered it, seeing the blocked call come up on the screen. "Hello?"
"Kens, where's KC?"
"G?" She closed her eyes, relieved. "Trying to get your son to take a bath. He doesn't like them anymore than Wyatt does."
"I need to talk to her."
"Okay." She put the phone down and hurried to find her friend.
"If you want to have a playdate with Wyatt and Uncle Deeks tomorrow, you need to get a bath tonight," KC was trying reasoning, but it was working about as well as reasoning with Callen. She was tired, seven months pregnant, and trying not to be a grump since she was the only parent Zac had at the moment.
"KC, you've got a phone call," Kensi told her gently.
"Take a message, Kens, please," KC said, resisting the urge to pick Zac up and put him in the bath, something that was hard for her to do right then anyway.
"No. Not this time." KC looked at her friend. "Let me deal with this. You take the phone call." She knew if she used the name, Zac would be all in on the phone.
"Yeah." She stood. "Please mind Aunt Kensi. Please." She hurried to the kitchen. "G?"
"KC, where are you? Where's Zac?"
"Right now, probably splashing Kensi or trying to escape. We're at home. Why?"
"I need to tell you something." He explained what he had overheard.
"We'll go to a hotel or something for a couple of days. When can you come home?"
"Hopefully soon."
"I'll leave word with Kens where we are."
"Take Kensi with you. And Wyatt."
"Then I'll leave word with Hetty." She didn't mention Sam.
"Thank you."
"I love you. Please be careful."
"Love you too. And be careful yourself."
The hardest part, especially in situations like this, was for her to end the phone call. He was the one who ended up hanging up. She held on to the receiver even after that, until Zac went running across the room, no clothes on, dripping wet.
"Zac! Come back here!" Kensi shouted.
KC managed to pick him up and take him back to the bathroom. She couldn't look at Kensi without wanting to cry. "I'll get him, honey. You need to call Deeks; get him and Wyatt over here."
Kensi followed, carrying a towel for Zac. "Why?"
KC dried him off, hugging him. "Go pick out some pjs, sweetheart." KC let him go, knowing he liked being able to pick out his own clothes. Once he was out of the room, she told Kensi what Callen had said.
Kensi paled. "I'll call Deeks." She nodded, getting up to go check on Zac.
Zac was playing in his room while he waited. She helped him climb into his pajamas. "Guess what. You, Mama, Aunt Kensi, Uncle Deeks, and Wyatt are all going on vacation."
"Where?"
"I don't know yet, sweetheart. The grownups are going to talk about that when Uncle Deeks gets here."
"A swimming pool?"
"Maybe. Maybe the ocean. I don't know. Do you want to help me pack? You can pick some toys to take to play with and we'll get your movies."
