Michelle met Callen at the transport, hugging him. "I think this is the first time I've ever seen you by yourself," she greeted him.
"Hello to you too."
"Hello." She paused. "They already went in to extract her. There's no word on her condition yet."
"I'm worried about her."
"I know." She said nothing about Joelle, torn between the two girls as the perfect girl for Callen. "There's someone I want you to meet."
"Who?"
She walked with him to Liz's quarters, seeing the young Afghan woman standing there. She spoke in the woman's language and she nodded, taking the bundle from the woman, revealing a newborn.
Callen went still. "Is that...?"
"Her daughter. Sarah. She's four months. I don't think even Kam was that tiny at that age."
"Poor baby. Is she healthy?" He whispered as he reached out to take the baby's hand.
"The medics seem to think so. She's adorable." It was times like this she missed having a little one, but between her schedule and Sam's, she knew it wasn't a good idea.
"She's precious. Gorgeous too. Definitely her mother."
She heard a commotion outside. "I can watch her, get her ready to go, if you want to go get our girl."
Callen nodded, but he didn't move. The child had wrapped her fingers around his.
"You're good at that."
"At what?"
Playing daddy, she wanted to tell him, but didn't want to scare him off. "With kids."
"I had a lot of younger kids to play with when I was in foster care."
"She'll need some help. I really assumed Kens would be with you. Quinn." One of the soldiers came out. "If you want to go, we're about to leave."
"Leave? Wait, what about KC?" asked Callen frantically as he turned to look for her.

KC stepped out of the cave, her eyes blinking at the blinding sun. She couldn't see a few feet in front of her until her eyes got adjusted and she had a blinding headache.

"Thank god!" He pulled her to him, hugging her tightly.
She held on to him, ignoring the pain, and then he was holding her up.
"I met someone a couple of hours ago. She's cute."
She let him and one of the Marines help her in one of the transports, her head against his chest. "Yeah?"
"I think her name was Sarah."
She grinned like a proud mother. "I want to go home, G. Take us home..."
"We are."
Michelle's eyes actually moistened when she saw G and KC return. She had packed KC's bag and what little the baby had and was ready to journey back to L.A. with them.
"Do you want to hold Sarah?"
She nodded. "My baby." Michelle put her in KC's arms, watching how she responded to her daughter. "Hi, Michelle."
"How'd you know?"
"It's not Kens. Had to be you." She smiled slightly, not even asking where her friend was. She knew.
"Kens wanted to wait for us at the airport."
"She needs to go to the hospital when we land," Michelle said under her breath.
"Don't wanna."
"You both need to."
"Sarah okay?"
"She's fine, honey. She just needs to get checked out. Even Kam has to have checkups and you know my daughter, she's as perfect as her mama." Michelle tried to oke and soothe at the same time.
"How old is she?"
"Don't know."
"You don't?"
"You've been gone for nine days," Michelle told her.
"Found...found her three months ago. Doc thinks she was only a few hours old."
"You found her?" KC nodded and moaned. "What's wrong?"
"Hurts."
"What hurts?"
"Everything."
The plane ride seemed to take forever. They finally arrived in LA to their family waiting: Kensi, Deeks supporting her, and even Sam.
Kensi forgot her fears when she saw her friend and rushed forward, carefully embracing her.
"Kens." KC held her friend close, Callen holding the baby again.
"You need a doctor, now. Let's go. I'll take you there."
She looked around. "G?" She didn't want to go without him.
"I'll be right behind you." She let Kensi help her to the waiting vehicle, Deeks and Callen following.
