"Yeah, I know, she already told me." He wasn't about to break her confidence and admit he wanted to make sure she really was okay after her visit from Grissom. "And Greg's with Morgan. She brought her mom up here to visit, but...I think she's really shook up about tomorrow. I know the feeling."

Greg smiled when Russell came in. "I'm heading back to help Sara now," he said.
Russell smiled and greeted Morgan and said hello to her mom again before addressing Greg, "Can I see you out in the hall for a minute?"
"Sure." He looked at Morgan and then followed their boss out. "What's up?"
"How's Morgan doing?"
"She's strong. Afraid but strong."
"Nick suggested that he work with Sara tonight. That would leave you free, if you had anywhere that you needed to be."
"He doesn't have to do that." Then he paused as thought occurred. "Actually, that's sweet of him. Although it is probably more for himself than anything. He gets to be with Sara."
"I think it'll work out well for Sara and for Morgan." Russell gave a smile, albeit worried. He treated each member of the team like family and thought of them as such.
"Thank you. I'll tell Morgan. She'll be thrilled."
Russell nodded. "We'll see you tomorrow." He and Finn already had plans on going to court, as he knew Sara and Nick did as well.
Greg nodded. "Thanks again."
"Don't mention it." He excused himself to keep working on his case.
Greg went back into the break room with a smile. All the same, Morgan asked, "Everything okay?" The last thing she wanted was for him to get in trouble for spending so much time with her, although Russell was usually very cool about that.
"Yeah. Nick offered to work tonight with Sara so that I can have the night off with you."
"It'll be good for her. I think Grissom's being here is really throwing her." It was written on Morgan's face that she wasn't hating spending extra time with Greg.
"She seemed a little annoyed with him when she was talking to Nick."
"She's not the only one annoyed with him," she referred to his earlier actions when they'd seen the older man.
"Yeah. I want him to suffer, but for Sara's sake, I won't do anything."
"Can we go home?" She looked tired.
"Of course. Let's go. My place or yours?"
"Let's go to my place."
"Okay. Dinner?"
"I'm not really hungry."
At this, her mom spoke up. "You have to eat something, sweetheart."
"Just something small, Morgan."
"Maybe some fried rice and eggroll." She finally compromised.

"Okay. I'll pick it up and meet you at home."
She looked reluctant to be parted from him but finally nodded, kissing his cheek, and walking out with him and her mom. Greg watched them leave and then took off himself.
*****
Sara looked up from her work. "How did it go with Russell?"
"You get me for the whole night," he gave her his Texas grin.
"Where's Greg?" She asked, confused.
"I asked Russell to let him have my night off."
"That was so sweet of you, Nicky." Sara stood up and kissed him.
"Hey, I've been told I'm a sweet guy." He whispered with a smile after the kiss broke.
"I can vouch for that."
"Besides...nowhere I'd rather be than with you." He whispered.
"Sounds good to me. I love you."
"I love you too, baby."
"Then let's get to work so we can go home." He smiled, filling in where she needed.

Greg finally got to Morgan's apartment, having stopped to get some clothes in case she needed him to stay overnight. He knocked on the door and waited, his hands full so he couldn't use his key.
Lauren answered the door, taking the food so that he could carry his bag. "She's taking a bath. I thought it might help her calm down some. It always did, since she was a little girl."
"That's good. I'm glad she has you here."
"I don't know that I'm any help at all. I just couldn't see her going through this all over again without me."
"You are a help, Lauren. She needs you, even if she doesn't show it."
"She needs you too. All of you, actually, but especially you. She's very lucky to have you and her friends in her life."
"We'll always be here."
"I can get these plates set up if you want to check on her."
"I'll help you. She needs some privacy." He smiled.
"I'm worried about tomorrow," she said honestly.
"Me too, but everything will be okay."
"I just don't see the point. I was never like Conrad or Morgan. If this girl is already in jail, what difference does it make whether she was crazy or not? She did it. As long as she can't hurt my baby girl anymore, I don't care what happens to her."
"Lauren, as much as I agree with you, Ellie Brass was a friend before all this happened. Her father wants to see what happens, which means Morgan has to testify. If I could stop it, I would, but no one can."
"I know that. I just..." She paused, but it was obvious there was something more. "I know he doesn't want to lose his daughter, but I don't want to lose mine either."
"You won't. I won't let anything happen to Morgan, I promise."
"It's already happening, Greg. That's why I wanted to go to the lab tonight. I thought it would calm her some, but she was so upset she was trembling on the way home."
"She's afraid; that's normal. If you think this is bad, you should have seen her when she got home from the hospital. She wouldn't leave the house unless she was at work and it took Ecklie and I almost three months to get her back to herself."
"That's exactly my point." Like Morgan, when she got upset, she got quieter.
"It will be okay Lauren, I swear it will be."
Morgan came out a sleep shorts and tank, but with her pink robe that Greg had given her after she'd been shot tied around her. Her tremble was almost unnoticed.
"Dinner time, Morgan." Greg walked over and gave her a hug, feeling her trembling.
Instead of arguing again, she simply nodded.
"Just a bit, Morgan."
Lauren fixed her a plate and drink. "Why don't you go relax on the couch, sweetheart? Maybe try to find a movie or something?"
Greg agreed with Lauren, knowing that it would distract her a little.
Morgan finally agreed, flipping through until she found an old black and white romantic comedy.

Neither noticed when Lauren stayed in the kitchen to eat, wanting to give them some privacy. "Is Sara okay? She seemed like she was, but sometimes I can't tell." Morgan tried to think of something to talk about besides the trial.
