That was the very opposite of what Deeks had wanted to hear, but he'd known he would hear it anyway. He wanted Callen to say he was being way overprotective of Kensi again, as he had tended to be since they got together, especially since she came home. He wanted Callen to assure him that the paleness of KC just meant that she was tired, worn out, and after a good nap she'd be like new again. He knew neither was the case, but that's what he foolishly wanted.

Deeks took charge again, getting the girls settled into the vehicle, driving back to Kensi's until they could figure out what to do next.

"Where's Alina?" asked Kensi.
"I've got her, Kens," Callen said, putting his daughter in the car seat between the girls.
"He's horrible..."
"We'll talk about it when we get home, Kens," Deeks said gently.
"We better."
In no time, they were at Kensi's. Callen settled Alina in as Deeks turned his attention to Kensi.
"He didn't mean it."
"You don't know that."
"I do."
"How?" He asked, starting lunch, knowing no one had eaten since dinner the night before.
"I just know."
