Natalia was running over a case with Ryan and Horatio when her cell phone rang. Frowning, she answered to hear Kaya's principal at the other end. "Ms Boa Vista, there seems to be a problem with Kaya."
"What happened?" Natalia asked fretfully.
"I know her sister usually picks her up every day, but we haven't seen her. Kaya's still here."
"I'm coming. Tell Kaya I'll be there in half an hour."
"Of course." The principal hung up and Horatio looked at Natalia, worried. "Is she all right?"
"Yeah, but Lina didn't turn up to pick her up."
He frowned. "That's not like her." He knew Lina looked forward to her time with Kaya every day. He couldn't remember a time when she'd ever been late, much less not shown up at all. "I'll try to reach her, unless you want me to go get Kaya."
"Look for her. I'll be back soon."
He nodded, already pulling out his cell phone to start calling his oldest child.
Natalia ran out the door to pick up her daughter.

Kaya sat out in front of the school with her bag, pretending not to be hurt, but the truth was she expected it from her father, could have accepted it from her mother, but the fact that Lina had just forgotten about her hurt.
"Kay, come on baby."
"Where's Lina, Mom? She promised she'd be here," Kaya said, putting her bag in the backseat while sitting in the passenger seat of the Hummer.
"I don't know sweetheart. Your dad is trying to find her."
"She probably just forgot." Her voice sounded like she was hurt.
"I don't think so. She wouldn't do anything like that to you."
She started to ask why not, her parents did, but decided not to, not wanting to fight. "Do we have to go back to the lab?" She rarely was permitted to go to the lab, which was one of the reasons why Lina picked her up every day.
"What do you wanna do?"
"See Lina." She knew her mom was right; Lina wouldn't just stand her up. Something had to be wrong. "See Dad."
"Okay, let's go to the lab."

Horatio had put out an APB on Lina's car by the time Natalia and Kaya appeared. He had tried her office phone, her cell phone, and her house phone. Ryan had checked out her office and was on the way to her house to check there.
"H? Anything?"
He shook his head, hugging Kaya, kissing the top of her head. "Ryan checked the office and is headed to the house, but she wouldn't..." He stopped himself and tried to smile for his youngest. "I'm sure she's fine, sweetheart."
"Where is she?"
"I don't know, but we're going to find her, okay? Do you want to go to my office and do your homework?"
"I want to help find her."
"Can you find Eric and Calleigh? Ask them to meet us in the break room? Walter too."
"Can I help?"
"That is helping right now, sweetheart, so your mom and I can do other things."
"Fine."
"Thank you." He waited until she was gone. "I'm gonna call Tripp. Can you get AV to track her phone? I don't...I don't know what else to do. She couldn't have just vanished."
"We'll find her."
"She's not answering her phones. She's not in her office. I keep hoping maybe Ryan will say she went home, but why wouldn't she be answering? And she never would have forgotten Kaya. Me, yes, but never Lina."
"Relax. We will find her."
"She's my little girl, no matter how old she is."
"I know. I love her just like you do. We will find her, I promise."
"I know you do," he said softly. He hadn't meant to lessen Natalia's worry, knew she was just as much family to Natalia as Kaya was to him.
Natalia hugged him. He hugged her back, watching her leave not long before Eric and Calleigh appeared with Kaya.
"Dad!" Kaya ran to him, wanting a hug and answers as to her sister's whereabouts.
He managed a half-smile for her, worried, but trying to hide it. He waited until Walter came and filled them in on what little they knew, which was almost nothing, just that Lina couldn't be found, that she'd missed picking up Kaya, that Ryan was looking at the house and Natalia was working on her cell phone.
"I want my sister! Let me help!"
"Why don't you go ask your mom if you can help her look through Lina's phone records? She's in the AV lab."
"I'll show you where," Eric told her before saying, "Then I'm going to check Lina's office, see what I can find." He knew she dealt with cops, CSIs, and criminals alike, something that drove her father crazy.
"Can I come with you a Uncle Eric?"
"Not to Lina's office, but your mom will love your help, sweetheart." He knew firsthand how important confidentiality was to a psychiatrist and to her patients.
Kaya nodded.
"Where do you want us, Horatio?" Calleigh asked for herself and Walter.
There was a long silence and he finally said, "Calleigh, look through my cases. Current and past. Pull anyone you think can help. I'll help too. Just in case....."
"She can look after herself H, you know that, right?"
"So can you. Didn't mean I didn't worry about you when you were gone."
"Thanks. But it'll be okay."
"She's right, H. It won't...It won't be like before." Eric managed to say.
"Maybe Calleigh should go with you..." Horatio said.
"He'll be okay. He's a strong boy," said Calleigh with a smile.
"She's right, H. It won't...It won't be like before." Eric managed to say, thinking of his sister that had been killed because of one of their cases.
"Maybe Calleigh should go with you..." Horatio said.
"Yeah, that might be a good idea actually," mentioned Calleigh.
"Okay, you go with him, I'll go with Nat if she leaves the lab, and until then I'll work with Walter on the cases."
"Okay."
Everyone agreed, but he could tell that Kaya still had a question. "What is it, sweetheart?"
"Why is Uncle Eric worried?"
"Sweetheart..." He looked into her eyes. "Something happened a few years ago, something your mom and I will tell you about after Lina comes home, okay?" He had never told her about being married before, but wasn't sure it was the time.
"Promise?"
"I promise." Talking about Marisol was still hard for him, but he knew she was old enough to know and needed to hear it from him and Natalia, not anyone else, even family.
"Good."
"Let's go find your mom, all right?"
"Okay."
*********
Ryan combed the entire city block, willing someone to know something. It wasn't possible that Lina had been taken from her home and no one had seen or heard anything.
"Excuse me, you know Lina, right?"
Ryan turned to see Lina's next door neighbor, a woman about Lina's age, approach him. He'd seen her before several times, enough to know she had two kids, a boy about Mari's age and a new baby girl, but not enough to know her name. "Yes. Yes, I do." He paused, not wanting to scare her away, and decided to let her set the pace, for now.
"Where is she?"
"I was hoping that you could tell me. Her car is at the house, but I haven't seen her. I know that the boys would be barking if anyone besides family came to see her. Have you heard them?" He referred to Lina's protectors: a Doberman/great dane mix and a german shepherd/pit bull/Rottweiler mix. She had rescued both from shelters and they were both protective of both her and Kaya.
The two were out of their kennels, in the back yard. That, combined with her Camaro in the drive, said she was home, although the facts said otherwise.
"There were some men before. But I saw them leave..."
"Do you know what vehicle they were in? Anything about it?" He paused and added, "She didn't pick her little sister, Kaya, up at school. We're worried about her."
"They had a brown car, not sure what type. The plate had a green sticker over it."
She chewed a nail. "Is Kaya okay? That little girl is so sweet."
"Kaya's fine. She's with her parents, trying to help find Lina. It's been a few hours since anyone's seen, heard, from her. Everyone's worried, so if there's anything else you can remember, even if it seems small..."
"There was a girl with them, maybe a little older than Kaya."
"Did you see what she looked like?"
"Was she Lina's age or younger?"
The more they talked, the more Ryan had a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach.
"Younger than Lina definitely. She had brown hair, long. She was tall too."
"Taller than Lina?" He knew Lina was 5'7", but she usually had at least a two inch heel on her shoes which put her at 5'9".
"Yes."
"What happened?" Natalia asked fretfully.
"I know her sister usually picks her up every day, but we haven't seen her. Kaya's still here."
