"I could shoot you."

"You could. You could do a lot of things. You could let me go before you get into any more trouble. Before you end up back in jail."

"So you do have a game plan. What is it?"

"Why should I tell you?"

"That's what I thought." She took a step towards the door.

He didn't know what to do. But he did know that she would never be able to get home. He had made sure of that. They were in the middle of nowhere.

(would he let her just walk out the door?)

She looked out the door and saw the Everglades surrounding them.
He chuckled behind her. "You can't get away."
The stubborn soul of her was battling with her brain that knew he was right, knew she would never survive out there. If the heat didn't kill her, the animals would.
"Go if you want. It's probably safer in here."
She decided to wait, but wasn't ruling out leaving if he tried anything.
"Would you like something?" He didn't want to hurt her. Yet.
"I would like to go home." She paused, appealing to his better nature. "My dad's going to be frantic. And my baby sister. I was supposed to pick her up from school."
"That isn't happening right now. Your sister will be fine."
She could feel how scared Kaya was, but said nothing.
"If your boyfriend does what I say, you'll be out soon."
"Have you even told him you have me?"
"He'll know soon."
"What do you want him to do?"
"I want my record gone. He can do that."
"No he can't. The judge does that."
"He can talk for me."
"And if the judge says no?"
"You'll pay for it."
"You threaten me again, your bargaining chip walks right out the door."
"Sorry. Look, I just really want to have a clean record so I can get a job already."
"Did you do it?"
"That's beside the point."
"Then, as I said before, you deserve it."
"No I don't."
"Whatever. You're a coward. Instead of starting your life over again, you kidnap a cop's girlfriend, a cop's daughter, like that won't piss people off."
"It will get the attention I want."
"You'll pay for it. Believe me."
"No I won't. I won't hurt you."
"You really think that matters? Maybe to Ryan it will, but not my parents."
"Especially not my dad."
"They won't worry cause you won't be hurt."
"They're worried now!"
"Then go!"
She walked out the door. He watched her go. *********** Ryan started for Horatio when he got stopped by the receptionist. He opened the envelope, walking again, and then shouted for his boss.
"What is it Mr Wolfe?" Horatio asked tiredly.
"One, we have a witness of the people who might have taken her. Two, read this."
Horatio took the letter and read it. His eyes widened in fear and anger as he read. "I will kill him."
Natalia cleared her throat, Kaya standing by her side.
"Read this," said Horatio angrily. He passed it to Natalia as Kaya tried to grab the letter first.
Natalia held it above her head, wanting to read it first. "Kaya, go find Calleigh and Eric for me, sweetheart," Natalia said, her hands trembling slightly when she was through.
"I want to read it."
"No." Natalia said simply.
"Why? It's about Lina and I want to know."
"Because I'm your mother and I said so. Now go get Calleigh and Eric, please."
"Fine." She stomped off, planning on asking her dad later about the letter.
Natalia saw her husband's face. "She is not reading this."
"I know. She's going to be so upset though."
"She's not the daughter I'm worried about at the moment. Ryan, who is this guy?"
"I don't know. I think I remember the name, but I'm not sure."
"I'll get the case file." She disappeared, putting the letter down.
Horatio looked up at the ceiling. "What are we going to do? We need to find her."
Calleigh came running, Eric and Kaya close behind. "Did you find her?" She had a feeling that they didn't or Kaya would have been happier, but she wanted to think on the bright side.
"No. But we may have a lead."
While they were busy, Kaya snuck the letter off to read.

"What would you do if it was Mari?" She asked softly, knowing the answer. He wouldn't stop until her baby was safe at home again.

Eric asked Ryan. "Any clue who this might be? Anyone say anything during the canvas?"
