"He has some stuff to get done, then we are going to work something out."

KC frowned, but didn't say anything.

"Yeah, it just...it doesn't sound like Deeks. Callen, sure, that's pretty much habit for him, but just doesn't sound like Deeks."

"Oh, he actually does have something to take care of," smiled Kensi. She didn't want to give away her secret just yet.

KC nodded. "I guess it's just...bad memories." Things she didn't want to remember, about how Callen was always promising to do things and getting called away, getting distracted.

Kensi was dying to tell her friend. "Can you keep a secret?"

(Sorry, this is a spur of the moment thing, but if you want to, we can change it)
"He's going to propose. A getaway would give him time to get everything done."

KC smiled, but something inside her told her she was right to have made her plans to get away, even if she had to leave Alina behind for a little while. She didn't want to be a third wheel, a tagalong, and it just confirmed her feeling of having no one, besides her daughter, she really belonged to. Still, she meant her next words with all her heart, "Honey, I'm so happy for you."

"I have a question for you."
"Anything. You know that."
"Will you do something special for me? Be my maid of honor?"
One thing KC had always maintained was a good poker face. She was as unreadable as Callen on undercover assignment. "Of course."
Kensi grinned. "Thank you! Maybe Ali will be old enough to be my flower girl too."
"Maybe."
"So, what colour dress do you want?"
"That's your job to pick that, Kens."
"Still. You are my maid of honor. I want you to be happy."
"Do you think we should call and check on the boys?"
"Yeah, I guess so." What's with her now? Kensi thought. She was so happy before.
She realized how rude she must have sounded. Even though she felt like she was screaming inside her head, she wanted so badly to be happy for her friend. She wanted to see Kensi happy and settled before she made her decision. "I'm sure they're okay."
"You don't want to be my maid of honor, do you? What's going on?"
"Of course I do. Nothing would make me happier, honey."
"Then why do you not sound happy?"
"What do you want me to do, Kens? Cartwheels? I'm happy for you."
"That might be true, but something's wrong. Talk to me."
"Nothing's wrong, Kens. I promise."
"You miss him."
"Not everything is about him."
"Don't lie to me."
"Blue. Dark blue."
"What?"
"The dresses. But you should ask Nell too."
"As a bridesmaid. And I have to tell my mum."
"She'll be so excited for you."
Kensi smiled again. She managed the appropriate reactions, the appropriate words, to Kensi's wedding talk until the guys came back.
"Kensalina? KC? Where are you?" Deeks called.
"We should go see what they found out." KC was a little too anxious to leave their conversation and hoped her friend would chalk it up to curiosity, not displeasure.
"Sure." Kensi jumped up and ran to the man she loved. "Hey Deeks."
Callen could instantly see something in KC that was hurting, but also instantly got it wasn't the time to question her about it. "We struck out with Hetty."
"What? How?" Kensi wanted to smash something in frustration.
"Granger wants to talk to both of you...and Sam."
"What? No way." KC said as soon as Callen's partner was mentioned.
"About what exactly?"
"What Hetty did to both of you," answered Deeks.
"Granger is okay, if Kens is okay with it, but not Sam."
"I....No. I can't..."
"Honey, that's the only way anything will get done about Hetty," Deeks tried.
"I have to tell him?"
"I told him a little, just what Hetty told the guys, but you can tell him the rest or I can."
"Okay."
"I'll talk to Granger, but I don't want to see Sam." She looked at Deeks on the next. "I don't have to, do I?"
"It's up to you. We weren't going to let them come here though, so we need to get going."
KC nodded, bundling Alina up and packing her bag.
"Where?"
"Your place. If you don't want Granger there we can do mine."
"Yours."
"I'll let the others know," Callen said, on his phone, even as he went to check on KC.
"Deeks, I told her."
"Good." He never doubted how KC would take it, happy, of course.
"She says she's happy but she isn't."
"Of course she is, babe. Maybe she's just tired."
"Something's wrong. she won't tell me."
"Do you want me to talk to her?"
"No, I guess she just wants some time." Her eyes were worried though.
"I know she's happy for you though, babe. Somewhere. Even if it doesn't show right now. She loves you a lot." He'd been planning on asking her and Julia for Kensi's hand.
"Yeah, I hope so."
