Kaya was more than a little upset when Lina wasn't there when she woke up, even more so when she didn't come home during the day. She seemed satisfied that she and Ryan were coming over that night, along with Calleigh for a little while.

Natalia opened the door when Ryan knocked, giving them a smile. "Come in."

Lina held his hand a little tighter, trying to smile, walking in with Ryan, staying close to him.

"Oh Lina, Kaya made it clear she had something to tell you before you sit with us. She's been waiting all day to tell you."

"Where is she?" She asked softly.

"Probably still in her room. She was watching a movie on the computer."

She nodded, going back to Kaya's room. Ryan was torn between going with her and staying there to talk to Natalia. He still didn't feel much like talking to Horatio.

"Go with her Ryan," said Natalia.

He nodded, leaving Calleigh with Horatio and Natalia.

Kaya smiled when Lina came in.
"Hey, sweetheart," Lina said, sitting on Kaya's bed.
"You're finally here!"
"I had to work."
"Yeah, but I woke up and you weren't here. You're always here."
"I went home."
"Last night?"
She nodded.
"Alright."
"How come you're in here by yourself?"
"Movie. Can I show you something?"
"Of course."
Kaya pulled out a drawing she had made. "Do you like it?"
Lina tried to keep the tears at bay. "Absolutely." Mari crawled into her lap.
"LiLi sad?"
"No, baby, just upset. Your mommy's in the other room. You want to go see her?"
"Mama!" Mari ran out of the room.
"What's wrong Lina?"
"Just upset with Dad, sweetheart. A little sad about something too, but it'll be all right."
"Sad about what? Is it mum?"
"No. Your mom's going to be okay. So are you."
"I meant, is it cause mum wants time off?"
"That's a very good thing. You're going to have a lot of fun." She tried to smile for her.
"But what about our sister time?"
"Everything's still being worked out, K. But she's right. You'll love spending time with your mom just as much as you love your sister time now," Ryan tried.
"Will we still get sister time?"
"I don't know, K," Lina said quietly.
"I'll tell mum we need sister time."
"Let your mom and Lina figure this out. They'll do what's best for you," Ryan told her.
"Why don't I get to have a say?"
"I don't either, sweetheart." Lina told her.
"Yes you do. Tell them that we want our sister time."
"Kaya," Horatio said from the doorway, bringing Mari back. "That's enough."
"No dad! It's not fair!"
"It'll be all right, Kaya. Trust me." Lina hugged her sister, hoping it wasn't a lie.
Kaya looked like she was going to cry, but let her sister leave, putting Frozen back on for Mari. Lina, Ryan, and Horatio walked back to the living room in total silence.
"Is Kaya alright?" asked Calleigh.
"She's upset," Lina spoke up. "She thinks she's not going to get her sister time and, quite frankly, I had no clue what to tell her." She looked at Natalia on this. "I love you. You're my family. You're Kaya's mother. Whatever you say, I'll respect that, but I have..." Her hands were trembling. "I have to say that you could have gone about it better. You could have told Kaya or me what was going on so that everyone's on the same page. And if you blame me for what happened, I understand, but I've gone over and over it a million times. It's what made me so sick last night." She looked at Horatio. "You remember, Dad, when you told me I was doing it myself? That I could control it?" She looked back at Natalia. "I don't know what I could have done differently, but I would have done anything..." She had to stop for a minute, her eyes closed, but tears threatening to fall anyway. "So if you blame me, I can understand."
"I told you, I don't blame you. I blame myself. I always wonder what might happen, not because of you picking K up, but because I don't pick her up. I'm so focused on work that I don't focus on my child enough. Lina, I love being able to rely on you, knowing you will always be there for Kaya. But I know it isn't fair on you either. You have a life of your own, and you always put it on hold for me and Kaya. It isn't fair to you."
Ryan shook his head. "Nat, you didn't ever tell her that. You told Calleigh that. You probably told Horatio that, but you didn't tell Lina that."
"The best part of my day is when I pick K up." She paused. "I got days, here and there, where Kyle wasn't in jail or in the army, where his mom wasn't going off the bend, where I got to be a sister. But until Kaya, I never really got to be a sister. Or have a sister. Like you have the girls."
"Do you understand though? I just want some time with my little girl. I don't mid the two of you having sister time, really I don't. I think it's great, but I just want some time with her."
Ryan was getting frustrated, wanting to explain for Lina, wanting to defend her, take care of it for her, but he knew if she was ever going to be okay, she needed to do it herself.
"I can understand that. I just wish you had talked to me. Not Ryan. Not Calleigh. Not everyone else in the lab. But me. Because the only thing I could think of was that you didn't trust me to protect my baby sister."
"I tried to talk to you, but you weren't listening, I didn't know what else to do."
