"Sweetheart, you know that's always your mom's decision." He left most of the decisions of bedtimes and such up to Natalia since he would be inconsistent at best, sometimes wanting her to stay up until they finally got home, sometimes wishing she would go to bed early so they could talk without upsetting her.

Eric was arriving with a sleeping Mari. He tiptoed past the two, trying both to not interrupt their conversation and to keep Mari from knowing her Poppy was there and getting upset when he and her daddy both had to leave.
