Finn looked at Sara. "Spill. Why isn't Nick with you? I mean, I know he's taken the job, Russell told me, but I would have thought you would have waited for him."
Sara looked over at Morgan. "Should I tell her?"

"If you don't, she'll keep at it. It is Finn after all."

"We decided to break up," Sara said, "long distance hasn't worked for me before, and I don't want to ruin our friendship."

What came out of Finn's mouth would have shocked anyone but those two girls. To them, it was totally Finn. Then she looked at Morgan, "This is a joke, right?"
Morgan shook her head. "No joke." To tell the truth, her own relationship had been suffering as well, mostly because Greg was so overprotective with Sara at the moment. They were barely hanging on.

"Its no big deal. We're fine with this," Sara said, aware of how Morgan and Greg were doing. "Although, there is something that you could do for me when Greg gets here."
"Sara, stay out of it," Morgan said under her breath.
"What's that?" Finn asked Sara.
"Get Greg to stop protecting me so much. I'm sick of it, even if he means well. It's getting very annoying."
"I'm going to go check on Russell. See if he needs me to do anything," Morgan said, leaving the room.
"Okay, so what's going on? Nick's gone so Greg's thinking he's the only family you've got left?"
"Yeah, no surprise there. It's putting him at odds with Morgan, and I don't want them to split up. I lied earlier, I hate that Nick and I broke up. But I won't say that to him because I don't want him coming back and hating me for it. I'm fine alone. But Morgan and Greg are meant to be and they aren't able to see it right now."
"First of all, just because Grissom was a bastard doesn't mean things will work like that with you and Nick. And Morgan and Greg have had this fight several times. It always ends up the same way. She'll be okay, Sara." Finn's voice sounded strong again, but she looked so weak.
"Finn, these last two weeks have been so hard on them. It's not like every other time. Trust me. And I don't want the heartache I felt with Grissom, even if Nick is different."
"Sara, I can't believe you're the one saying this. You're always saying that when it's right, it's worth it. Yeah, Greg and Morgan are perfect for each other, but so are you and Nicky."
"I don't want to risk it. And nobody knows about this except Morgan, so please don't say anything."
"Russell knows."
"He doesn't know anything except that we aren't together anymore."
"Bull. I'm telling you, Sara. He knows."
"How? I haven't told him anything. I only told Morgan, and you but you were unconscious."
"Because he's Russell. He knows everything. I don't know how. It drives me insane sometimes, but he just does."
"Then why hasn't he said anything?"
"Because he's Russell. Besides, what is he going to say? He can't fix it. Only you and Nick can. Not even Greg."
"You really think we should try?"
"Of course I do. You know I don't believe in that stuff, but...if I did, I'd see it in you guys, in Greg and Morgan."
Sara hesitated, but finally nodded. "Why couldn't you have woken up earlier and made me go back to him?"
"Is what Morgan said true? Did Greg go get him?"
"He's waiting at the airport for him."
"Then when he comes home, fix it. At least try. And tell Greg if he doesn't get his head out of his ass, I'll fix it for him. Morgan's a good girl. She deserves someone who's going to be there for her."
"Okay. Hey, hurry up and get better so we can go out again."
"You've gotta be kidding." Finn smiled anyway though.
"Not kidding, we have some catching up to do."
"Let me get rid of this headache first, okay?" She was still smiling though.
"Alright. I'll go so you can rest."
"You can stay for a little while." She didn't want to be alone.
"Really? Maybe we can eat the chocolate then."
Finn ate a piece, but she felt like she was going to throw up so she didn't eat another.
Russell watched the girls from outside the room, Morgan next to him. "Do you think she's okay?"
"What's the doctor say?" She asked softly.
"Finn's body is healing very well, but she's still not healthy enough. Something's wrong, and they don't know if it's physical or psychological."
"She's been through a lot these last two years."
"Yeah, and I want her to talk but she won't."
"Maybe she'll talk to us. She always has before."
"Can you try?"
She nodded. "Yeah, I just...I needed to get out of there for a minute. I'll go back in."
"Did Sara tell her about their relationship?"
"Yeah. And about Greg. That's why...that's why I had to step out for a minute."
"She told about you two having trouble? I doubt that."
"Fine. She didn't."
"She's only worried. She wants you guys to be happy."
"We don't matter right now. If we fix it, if we don't, right now Finn's what matters."
"You know Finn is just going to make you two deal with it."
"Depending on how well she is."
"It looks like she's doing it to Sara right now, you're next, trust me."
"When can she go home?"
"A few days. Hopefully."
"Maybe she'll heal better then."
"Maybe. But for now, you better get in there and let her tell you what to do. If you wait, it it'll be worse."
She nodded, walking back in with the girls.
"Hey, I'm going to the bathroom, you two need to talk," said Sara, slipping out the door.
"You and Greg are arguing again?" Finn asked.
"No. We're not arguing."
"You are. Sara didn't even need to tell me that he's protecting her for me to realise what that meant. He would have been here with you instead of picking Nick up."
"We're not. You have to be home in order to fight."
"You should talk this out. You guys are wonderful together."
"You've got to be home to talk, to fight, to do just about anything."
"So go home. Morgan, don't let him get away from you."
"Finn, it's not me that's not going home."

"I'm sorry I left earlier. And I know it's hard on her. But I would give anything if he gave me the kind of attention he gives her, without being shot." She paused. "This isn't talk for right now, is it?"

"It's okay. He only does that for her because he knows about her past, about everything she's been through. And I think it's also because she has always been there for him, defended him, so he does the same for her. It's different with you. He gets that you need him, but he can see that we all care for you too. He doesn't see that with Sara."

"No. Listen to me. Unless you hid something from him Morgan, he knows that you don't need that kind of protection. And trust me when I say I'm going to kill him for hurting you, but you have to tell him how you feel. If you don't how is he supposed to know that he's hurt you?"

"For God's sakes, Finn. You almost died. Sara's heart is broken. Don't worry about me. I'll recover. I always do. Just let it be."
