"Where's Lanie?"
"Lanie's at home," Esposito told her softly. "She'll meet us there. We can call your dad, Mrs. R, and Alexis too if you want."
She shook her head. "Lanie was here."
"That was last time," he told her. "It's just you, Castle, and us this time." She nodded, seeming to understand, but his eyes were worried.

Martha, Alexis, and Lanie were all there by the time the ambulance arrived, all looking about as unglued as they had when Kate was shot. Martha gasped when she saw her son, but it was Alexis who ran to her dad's side.

Castle hugged his daughter tightly, only letting go when Jim came in so he could hug the man and apologise.

"What happened?" Jim asked, looking stricken. It was just a week before he'd given his daughter away. She'd just come back from her honeymoon and he knew she hadn't gone back to work yet.
