The doctor finally came out. "He's awake."
Eric looked at Natalia and Lina, not sure who was closer to coming unglued. "You two go first. I'm gonna update Ryan and we'll be right there."
Natalia nodded, walking in with her friend.

Horatio gave both girls a smile. "Hey." His smile faded when he saw Natalia's injuries. "What happened?"

"Nothing," she tried to lie, but every hour she'd been pushing herself, she felt worse and worse. "Ryan's gone home to get Kaya and Calleigh and Eric are right outside."
Lina gave her dad a look and a slight shake of her head. Everything wasn't okay. She was worried about Natalia, both given her actions and given the story Ryan had told her on the car ride over.

Horatio wasn't listening. "Lina, what happened?"
"I think I hear Kaya." Natalia walked into the hall.
Lina filled her dad in quickly until she heard Calleigh gasp and Kaya start crying.
"Eric! Get a doctor!" Calleigh bent next to Natalia while Ryan held onto Kaya.
He was already finding a doctor, getting her some help. Lina came out to check and found where Natalia had collapsed. "I've got her," she said to Ryan. "Help Eric."
"Mom!" shouted Kaya. She knew her dad was hurt but not her mom and she was scared.
"Come on, sweetie. Let's go see Dad and then we'll come back so you can see your mom." Lina managed to lead Kaya to Horatio's room as Eric and Ryan picked Natalia up to the gurney.
"Daddy," said Kaya quietly. She climbed onto the bed and hugged him.
"Hey, sweet girl. It's okay." He hugged her gently. "It's going to be okay."
"Mom fell. What happened to her?"
"I don't know, sweetheart, but Uncle Eric, Aunt Cal, and Uncle Ryan are going to make sure she's okay while you and Lina stay here and keep me company, okay?"
Kaya nodded. "Okay. Are you okay, Daddy? Uncle Ryan said you got hurt."
"I am now that I get to see my girls."
Kaya smiled. "I love you daddy."
"I love you too, baby girl." Kaya kissed him and then moved over for Lina to sit too. Lina sat beside them, running her fingers through Kaya's hair. Kaya hugged her sister, feeling better because she knew her family would keep her mom safe.
Calleigh followed Natalia's gurney, knowing Horatio would want an update as soon as possible. She heard talk about internal bleeding, punctured lung, and wondered how Natalia had pushed herself as long as she had.
"She needs rest and care. I heard someone screaming out before. Was that her child?"
"Yes. Her husband was already injured. Their daughter didn't know about her injuries until she collapsed."
"She can come and see her if she's careful."
"The men that brought her in are her brothers. Can they see her until the rest of her family arrives?"

"Of course. As long as she isn't stressed out, there shouldn't be an issue."

Calleigh nodded at Eric and Ryan who immediately went to Natalia's room and she herself set out to get Horatio and the girls.

Kaya looked at Calleigh when she came in. "Can I see my mummy Aunt Calleigh?"

"Yeah. I have a feeling she'll want to see you and Lina right away." She smiled for her and silently indicated that Lina should go with the girl, she would stay with Horatio.
