"She threatened Morgan and I," said Sara.

(still think we're missing some, but here's what we did tonight)
Ecklie arrived first, waiting outside the house for Sara or Morgan to arrive. He had been to the house his daughter shared with Sara many times, but always with one of them there and he wanted to respect their privacy.
Sara and Nick arrived first, pulling into the garage with enough room for Morgan to park there as well. Sara got out and smiled for Ecklie before unlocking the door and going inside, happy to be home in her comfort zone.
Nick made sure Sara was in securely before approaching Ecklie. "Morgan and Greg all right?" He knew they had left before them.
"They're getting dinner. Chinese or something. How is Sara doing? Greg told me that he was worried about Sara because she was refusing to accept the danger Ellie poses."
"She's still more worried about Jim, concerned about Morgan, than she is herself, but that's normal. I'm going to hang around tonight, I'm sure Greg will too, just in case." He paused. "I know Morgan's not here yet, but you're welcome to come in if you don't want to wait out here."
"Thanks. That would be great. I won't stay the night but let me know if my daughter needs me?"
"Of course. No one's going to let anything else hurt Morgan. You know that, right?"
Ecklie smiled. He had only just started feeling welcome in the group. "Yes. Of course."
"And I understand why you said that earlier. It's hard sometimes to protect them and still let them know that you don't think of them as helpless." He referred to Ecklie's words that had hurt his daughter earlier.
"I shouldn't have said it though. But, like everything else I've ever done to her, she'll forgive me eventually."
"She loves you." It was true that Morgan's relationship with her father had been rocky but they had gotten a lot closer during the past year. "I need to go check on Sara and return Russell's phone call. See you inside." Nick attempted a smile for him before going inside.
Ecklie leaned on his car and sighed, waiting for his baby girl to arrive.
"We should have invited Jim." Morgan told Greg. "I just didn't want him to feel like we were celebrating anything."
"I know. Maybe we can still call him?"
"When we get home. Maybe Nick and Sara did."
"I think Nick's main focus is getting Sara to accept the danger she might be in."
"Ellie's locked up, Greg. She can't hurt anyone anymore."
"Yet you still worry."
"How do you know I'm not just using it as an excuse to hang out with you?" She smiled at him.
"Cause you don't need an excuse."
"Keeps things interesting." She shot back.
"Relax. If you feel safe, then fine. But Nick isn't going to rest until both of you are protected."
"I want to believe this is over, Greg. I want that more than I want anything."
"I know. It is over." He didn't believe that for a second though.
"Now say it like you believe a word of it."
"I can't. I trust you, but I don't want you hurt."
"You sound like Dad. Any second of any day either of us could get hurt, Greg. A helicopter could go down. A good deed could be rewarded by being beaten half to death. A shooting could occur. And if we weren't in this job, then there could be a wreck on the interstate. Wrong place, wrong time."
"I love you. I hate when you hurt, especially if I can't do anything about it. I know. But I need you to accept it as a possibility. I mean, I'm lucky I didn't get hurt in that girls' weekend and all we were doing was going to the spa."
"Yeah..." He smiled a little. They pulled into the driveway and then into the garage. "Your dad is here."
"I see him." She paused. "I think that's why I get so unnerved when you get so protective. Because Dad can't seem to get past my shooting sometimes. It's like he thinks I'm helpless. The last thing I want to be in anyone's eyes, especially yours, is helpless."
"He loves you. And you are his only daughter. He doesn't want to lose you after getting you back so recently." Greg kissed her. "You are most definitely not helpless."
She smiled, resting her head against his for a moment before getting out, getting the food out.
Greg held the front door open for her and then beckoned Ecklie over. Ecklie approached tentatively, hoping Greg had had time to cool Morgan down a little.
"She's worried that you think she's helpless."
"That explains it. I don't think she's helpless. Anyone can be shot. I was. I just want to protect her from it ever happening again. I don't want either of us to lose her."
"Join the club. But she's just too stubborn sometimes."
"You always liked genetics, Sanders. Figure it out," Ecklie teased slightly. "You can't say you didn't know half of what you were getting into..."
"True. I like it though."
"She's a good girl." He paused. "See if you can get her out here. I'll make my apologies and leave you guys alone. You and Nick have it handled." The hardest thing he would ever have to do would be to leave but Morgan was right. Ellie was on her way to prison for life. If she ever got out, Morgan would be old and gray.
"Don't be silly. Come inside and eat. I'm sure Morgan would love to have you there."
"I need to catch up on some paperwork anyway. And I want her to feel like I trust her. Like I know she'll be okay. Sitting on her like an egg I'm trying to hatch is no way to let her live her life."
"Are you sure you want to leave her?"
"No. But I'm sure I need to."
"Okay. But don't stay away. She still needs you."
"I know." He paused when Morgan came out to check on them.
"I'll be inside."

(Yeah, you might be right. I'll have a look and see what I can find)
"Honey, I'm sorry about this. I love you and I don't ever think you're helpless."

"Just sometimes...it feels like you think I'm helpless. Like I'm still a kid or I can't protect myself."

"We actually agreed on something? No surprise, since it is you."
"You agree on more than either of you would ever admit."
"Like?"
"I'll let you figure that out for yourself." She rested her head near his. "Are you sure you're going to be okay? I wish you'd stay."
"I don't want to intrude."
"You wouldn't be."
"What about your roommate?"
"She likes you a lot more since she's not with Grissom, she says." Morgan smiled.
"She won't think I'm in the way?"
His cell phone rang. "I think that's moot."
"It's not important."
"Dad. It's okay. I know...I know you've put a lot on hold the last week, the last year. I'll be okay if you answer."
"It's nothing." It was her mother actually, but he didn't want to talk to her yet.
She sat in silence with him, holding his hand.
"Maybe I'll stay a little while."
She went back inside with him. ****** Finally, Ecklie pulled out his phone and sighed. "You have to be kidding!"
Nick groaned, his phone going off too. Greg was next and he sighed as he had to move to get it. Morgan inwardly groaned as she had to move so he could get at his phone.
"Who is it?" Sara asked.
"Russell. There was an accident and Finn's already working a case."
"You have to go?"
"Yeah, baby. I'm sorry."
"It's alright. Are we needed?"
"Yes, but not for work." He smiled at her. "You and Morgan watch a movie. We should be back in a couple of hours."
"Promise?"
"Definitely." He kissed her forehead.
"See you soon."
Morgan wanted to tell Greg that she didn't want him to go, but knew that was ridiculous. Ellie was safely in lockup by now and there was no viable reason why he couldn't go in, especially if she and Sara were both out.
"I love you Morgan."
"Love you." She whispered before adding, "Don't worry, okay? Nicky's right. Sara and I will just stay here and watch movies." She knew he couldn't afford to be distracted in the field anymore than Nick could.
"Look out for each other."
"We always do."
Greg smiled. He kissed her and hugged Sara before leaving. Morgan made sure to lock the doors after the guys left.
"What should we watch, since both guys made it clear we should be under house arrest?" Sara asked.
"They didn't mean it like that. They're worried about us. It's not their fault Dad outranks Russell."
"I just hate feeling like a prisoner when I'm not. Don't you?"
"I've felt like one for a year, more or less."
"Yeah, sorry, that was stupid to say."
"It's okay, Sara. I don't care what we watch. I just...I have a bad feeling."
"Me too."
She looked at her friend. "Really?"
"Yeah. I have since Brass told me about Ellie.@
She smiled. "Greg was wrong."
"About?"
"He said you weren't taking it seriously."
"Of course I am. I just didn't want you to worry."
"I'm sorry you got mixed up in all this."
"It's not your fault."

"I know. I mean, part of me knows that. But part of me can't help but think if I'd listened to Dad and not gone in, we'd all be better off."
